Explosion at Johnson County gun powder manufacturer

JOHNSON COUNTY (KATV) - A synthetic gun powder manufacturing plant in Johnson County exploded Tuesday morning.

The sheriff's office was called at 8:20 Tuesday morning to Black Powder, Inc. on County Road 3455. According to Jerry Dean, Black Powder's owner, one person - his adult son - was inside the business at the time of the explosion. He suffered severe burns to his body and was flown to a Little Rock hospital by helicopter.

The explosion was large enough it warped the roof, which could be seen bowing out where it was once flat.
