Exxon to cut off housing assistance for some Mayflower residents

MAYFLOWER (KATV) - In one month, ExxonMobil will stop paying temporary housing accommodations for residents evacuated due to the Mayflower oil spill but have been cleared to return home.

The deadline only applies to the 11 property owners in the Northwoods subdivision whose homes have been cleared as safe for re-entry. Representatives said exceptions could be made for residents who have a lease that hasn't expired yet.

In all, 22 people were evacuated when the Pegasus Pipeline burst in May.
