ExxonMobil lawyers ask for oil spill lawsuit to be dismissed
LITTLE ROCK (KATV) - Lawyers for ExxonMobil and Exxon Pipeline have filed a motion asking for dismissal of a lawsuit by Mayflower residents over the oil spill there.
It's been 73 days since the ExxonMobile Pegasus Pipeline ruptured and spilled thousands of barrels of oil in Mayflower. That spill forced the evacuation of about 20 homes.
The lawsuit - filed by two Mayflower women - is asking for unspecified damages because of diminished value to their property and nuisance.
The motion to dismiss said the oil did not contact the women's properties and therefore they cannot claim diminished value or nuisance.
