FAA grants to fund airport improvements
WASHINGTON - The Federal Aviation Administration is awarding more than $3 million in safety and operation improvement grants to four Arkansas airports.
Fort Smith Regional Airport will get $2,486,293 to continue the rehabilitation of its taxiway. Grider Field in Pine Bluff will receive $232,200 to repair the asphalt section of its apron - the area where planes are parked, loaded and refueled. Sheridan Municipal Airport will get $372,731 to extend its runway and repair the pavement. Pocahontas Municipal Airport will receive 225,200 to fix its apron.
The grants, which are awarded annually, were announced Monday by members of the Arkansas congressional delegation.
