SHERWOOD (KATV) - Some Arkansans were "Gettin' down for Down Syndrome" Saturday.
The day was filled with music, dancing and fun activities which raised funds for the Arkansas Down Syndrome Association to promote awareness and acceptance for individuals with the genetic condition.
Association President Suzanne Hicks says statistically about 2,400 people in the state have Down Syndrome. "Getting early intervention for them is extremely important because it effects their whole lives in terms of what they're able to accomplish."
The activities at Woody's Sherwood Forest wrapped up at 2:00. This was the eighth year for the event.
