Family of Sick Baby Gets Stolen Generator Back
We have a happy ending to a sad and strange story. Thursday we told you about a sick infant named Dexter McDade.
He suffers from a rare kidney disease and his family relies on a generator to power his dialysis machine whenever they lose electricity. On Wednesday someone stole the families generator from outside their home in Tull, but we are happy to report that tonight the McDade's have their generator back and sheriff deputies say the thief is behind bars. Investigators arrested Donald Higgins yesterday at the Saline County Sheriff's Office. He allegedly arrived in a stolen vehicle with two stolen generators in the backseat--including the McDade's. Dexter's mom tells us she is glad that she has the generator back but she is just as grateful to all of the generous Arkansans who offered to help the family while they were suffering.
"We had several people in our community offer how much help we had calling us, we had several people contacting the news media wanting to help us, it was just overwhelming how much help we had coming in," says Alexis McDade
Higgins is still locked up and faces multiple theft charges.
