NORTH LITTLE ROCK (KATV) - An apparent random shooting in North Little Rock leaves a young mother dead and police officers searching for answers that will lead them to the murderer.

Police believe the shooter was driving a black or maroon pick up truck near the intersection of McCain Blvd. and JFK Blvd. The victim, a young mother with her 11-month-old girl in the back seat, was simply traveling the opposite direction. The shooter opened fire, killing 31-year-old Samantha Olsen.

Inch by inch detectives searched the crime scene for evidence. The likely random shooting has shaken the North Little Rock community.

"It just blew me away. It could have been anybody," said neighbor Jason Benbrook.

Other than a vague description of a black or maroon truck with a toolbox, police have little to go on other than their own determination. Detectives hope that their painstaking effort will be mirrored in the community as they ask businesses with security cameras and even folks on the street to call-in tips and help find the person who robbed a family of a wife, daughter, sister, and mother.
