CABOT, Ark. (AP) - Federal investigators say someone attempted to pull down a electric transmission tower by draping a steel cable across railroad tracks and attaching the other end to the structure south of Cabot.
The FBI is offering a $20,000 reward for information. It said that while no one was injured, the community and railroad workers were at risk.
A high-voltage line was downed Wednesday in the Holland Bottoms area, but not the tower. The FBI said someone attached a cable to the tower, undid its bolts and apparently wanted to use a moving train to pull the tower down.
Agents said that removing the bolts would have generated considerable noise.
They also suspect that the perpetrator has above-average knowledge of electrical matters.
