      FEMA hands out $1.2 Million to tornado victims so far

      VILONIA (KATV)--The Federal Emergency Management Agency has received 750 applications so far, and have handed out $1.2 million worth of checks to tornado victims in Vilonia and Mayflower.Tornado victims must register within 60 days to receive FEMA assistance.{}There are two ways to get registered, calling 1-800-621-FEMA or by going on to the FEMA Disaster website.FEMA Public Information Officer, Peter Lembessis, said once you apply an inspector will arrive within a couple of days to assess the damaged property. A few days later, victims will receive a check.
