Flying Saucer teams up with Pints for Prostates
(Source: Flying Saucer) Texas - For the second year in a row, Flying Saucer Draught Emporium in Little Rock is partnering with Pints for Prostates to raise money for prostate cancer research. Last year, Flying Saucer raised $20,000 across all of its locations in the Southeast. This year, the Saucer expects to round up even more money for the cause - a nonprofit that began in 2008 by prostate cancer survivor, Rick Lyke.
Lyke is a drinks journalist who has been writing about beer, wine and spirits for more than 30 years. He says, "Men are 33 percent more likely to develop prostate cancer than women are to have breast cancer, yet few men know about the critical importance of early detection." He continues, "The support of the Flying Saucer, Chimay, Blanche de Bruxelles, Duvel and Gouden Carolous will help us reach an audience that needs to hear our message."
According to the National Cancer Institute, 240,890 new prostate cancer cases were diagnosed in the U.S. in 2011.
