Friday is the busiest day of the Christmas season for Clinton National Airport.
About 7,500 passengers came through at the airport Friday, according to spokesman Shane Carter. The number of passengers at the airport on a single day is typically highest around Thanksgiving because most people are traveling at the same time, but during Christmas arrivals and departures tend to be more staggered based on the flexibility of work schedules.
Construction still going on at the airport and will be completed by the end of February. The work, however, is mostly done at night and is not a problem for passengers.
Most airlines encourage passengers who are traveling within the US to arrive 90 minutes before their scheduled departure to make sure there is plenty of time to park, check in, check luggage and make it through security. To check flight status or learn more about parking at the airport, click here.
