Funeral service scheduled for longtime ASU coach

JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) - Funeral services have been scheduled for longtime Arkansas State University assistant football coach and athletic administrator Bill Templeton.

Emerson Funeral Home says Templeton died at his home Sunday at age 80. A cause of death was not released.

The funeral home says services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Jonesboro.

Templeton served as an ASU assistant offensive football coach from 1965-79 when he retired from coaching to become assistant athletic director for fundraising and director of what was then known as the Indian Club. ASU has since changed its mascot to the Red Wolves.

Templeton played at ASU from 1954-56 and was inducted into the Letterman's Club Hall of Honor in 1987.
