Game and Fish reminding hunters of safety after four deadly accidents last season
Saturday kicks off Modern GunSeason. Arkansas Game and Fish wants to remind the hundreds of thousandshunters heading into the Arkansas deer woods to stay safe.
Four people died last yearwhile hunting. One victim was out of sight of the shooter. Another happened whensomeone carelessly handled a rifle. A hunter fell from a tree stand and diedfrom his injuries. A hunter failed to identify a deer and hit a person instead.
Game and Fish, however,only want to these stories to encourage people to be safe so that huntingremains an enjoyable activity.
"People get to go to theirdeer camps and they get to hang out together. It's just a good family time. Goodfriend time and they just enjoy it," said wildlife officer Crystal Blakley.
