(CNN) - Gas prices have dropped more than seven cents over the past two weeks on average nationwide but prices are higher in some regions hit by Sandy.
The new national average for regular gasoline is $3.47 -- down more than 36 cents over the past six weeks, according to the Lundberg Survey. Analyst Trilby Lundberg says prices are down because of lower demand.
But prices remain high in much of New York and New Jersey because of damage to infrastructure.
Lundberg found the highest average price in Long Island, at $4.18.
The city with the lowest average in the latest survey was Memphis, at $3.04.
