FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - A girl needed stitches after being hit in the head while on a ride at the Benton County Fairgrounds.
Fayetteville television station KHOG reports (http://bit.ly/1kHpa3K ) the ride is still operational because Arkansas officials determined the carnival's owner didn't do anything wrong.
Riders are lifted up and down in a circular motion on the attraction called the Stampede.
The fairgrounds' owner says a metal pin came undone, causing a metal bar to swing out and hit the girl in the head on Wednesday night.
The accident prompted a review by a state inspector on Thursday. The official didn't find anything suspicious about the ride but is still investigating the accident.
