Great Passion Play resurrected
EUREKA SPRINGS (KATV) - The Great Passion Play has been saved from foreclosure thanks to $75,000 in donations.
The Gospel Station Network spearheaded the fundraiser after the bank took ownership of the property December 4. Now that the show will go on, the play still needs to raise around $200,000 to fund the 2013 season. Based on donations they have already received, a Gospel Station Network spokesperson said that they are confident the money will be raised in time. Click here if you would like to donate.
The show tells the story of Jesus Christ's life and death. It re-opens in May when the season normally starts. Tickets are expected to go on sale in early January.
The radio network also plans to raise an additional $6 million to renovate the production that has drawn millions of visitors in its more than 40 year history. That money would go toward improvements to the stages, parking and aesthetics plus re-opening a tour of the Holy Land that had to be closed after it was damaged by an ice storm.
