Greene County coroner seeks new morgue location
PARAGOULD, Ark. (AP) - As Greene County plans to open a new jail next year, at least one county official has his eye on the old facility.
Greene County Coroner Dick Pace says he wants to use the former jail's kitchen space as the new county morgue. Pace says he now uses the morgue at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center and he routinely runs out of space.
The Paragould Daily Press reports (http://bit.ly/17Ru20c ) that using the jail kitchen would allow the county to triple its capacity at the current morgue.
The new $16.5 million jail will house up to 488 inmates. It's funded by a sales tax increase approved by Greene County voters last year.
