Griffin calls Rhoda's comments 'inappropriate' and 'offensive'

Second District Congressman Tim Griffin is speaking out regarding the controversial comments made by a state Republican Party official about Hillary Clinton.

According to a U.S. News & World Report blog, 2nd Congressional District Chairman Johnny Rhoda was asked by reporters how Clinton would fare in Arkansas if she were to run for president in 2016.

His reported reply: "She'd probably get shot at the state line."

Rhoda resigned Wednesday from his chairmanship.

Rep. Griffin, who is running for Lieutenant Governor, has responded with the following statement:

"Mr. Rhoda is not and never has been associated with our campaign for lieutenant governor, and his statement is obviously inappropriate, offensive and shows poor judgment.

"Mr. Rhoda's decision to resign from his position with the Arkansas Republican Party is the right one for him, the Party and Arkansas."
