Immigrant activists, business leaders, faith leaders and other rallied on the steps of the State Capitol Saturday in support of immigration reform.
The group is calling on Senators Mark Pryor and John Boozman to support the Senate immigration bill.
S744 is the "Border Security, Economic Opportunity and Immigration Modernization Act."
Rally organizers said it is not a perfect bill but said it represents a common sense reform and overhauling for the nation's immigration policies.
They said Arkansas has a substantial immigration population that has increased in the past few years.
"Over the last two decades we've more than quadrupled our immigrants across the state and now represent about eight percent of the population," said Mireya Reith with Arkansas United COmmunity Coalition. "And over the last two elections we've actually doubled the immigrant vote on two occasions."
Organizers said the bill would create a road map for undocumented immigrants across the country, including nearly 56,000 here in Arkansas to earn the privilege of citizenship.
