Group seeks to boost voter participation in state's midterm elections

LITTLE ROCK (Ark. News Bureau) A nonprofit Washington-based group that promotes voter participation in elections said Tuesday it has mailed 34,000 voter registration forms to Arkansans in all 75 counties.

The Voter Participation Center said it is seeking to counteract the historically low voter turnout for midterm elections.

"This year Arkansans will select their next Governor, a U.S. Senator and four U.S. members of Congress, not to mention all the state and local races," said Page Gardner, the group's founder and president. "It is essential that we help as many eligible Arkansans as possible participate in our great democracy."
