A candidate in the 2014 governor's race participated in an open carry march in Conway Saturday.
Republican primary candidate Curtis Coleman said he supports Act 746 which allows a person to openly carry a gun as long as law enforcement can't prove that person intends to commit a crime.
Some say that's not what the change in the act was intended to do, but Coleman said he thinks it's a good thing.
"I think all the studies that we're seeing all over the country consistently show the more Americans have the clear, obvious right to defend themselves that the less opportunity there is for them to be attacked and to be the victim of crime," Coleman said.
The marches are being held across the state to help make people aware that openly carrying a gun is now a legal activity.
