FORT SMITH, Ark. (AP) - A man charged with killing a Fort Smith woman in Oklahoma told police in a recorded interview that he slit the victim's throat.
The Times Record reports (http://bit.ly/1gIEM4q ) that the interview with 25-year-old Elvis Thacker was played Wednesday during Thacker's preliminary hearing in Le Flore County District Court in Poteau.
Defense attorney Gretchen Mosley said Thacker was susceptible to manipulation and suggestion when he was interviewed.
Thacker and his brother, 24-year-old Johnathen Thacker, are charged with first-degree murder and sodomy in the September 2010 death of 22-year-old Briana Ault. Ault's body was found in a pond in Pocola with her throat cut.
Both men have pleaded not guilty.
The preliminary hearing for Elvis Thacker is to resume Nov. 13. Johnathen Thacker was previously ordered to stand trial.
