High court tosses appeal in Dalton slayings
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - The Arkansas Supreme Court has thrown out an appeal by Charles Wayne "Chad" Green, who is serving life in prison for his role in the slayings of four family members in northeast Arkansas in 1998.
The high court on Thursday ruled that Green's argument that the lower court lacked jurisdiction to find him guilty is without merit.
The 38-year-old Green was convicted of capital murder in the deaths of Carl and Lisa Elliott and their young children, Gregory and Felicia. They were killed near Dalton and it took authorities until 2003 to bring charges against Green and his father, 58-year-old Billy Dale Green.
Both men are serving sentences of life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Authorities say the killings occurred after a drug deal went sour.Copyright 2014 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed.
