A Little Rock Police officer whose car was struck by another motorist, chased the person, until his patrol car began to break down.
The officer was on patrol south of Roosevelt Road about 9:20 p.m. Thursday night, when a small black passenger car struck his vehicle as he turned at the corner of S. Bishop St. and West 34th. The suspect vehicle immediately fled the scene, as the officer pursued, but the officer had to stop when his police car started smoking.
The officer radioed for help, and another officer chased the vehicle, but the suspect was able to get away. The car was later found abandoned, with the engine still running and the driver's side door open.
The vehicle was inspected and impounded.
The officer received only minor injuries from the hit and run.
