Holmstrom hired as new Ark. House staff chief
LITTLE ROCK (AP) - A former executive director of the state Democratic Party has been hired to help run the newly majority-Republican Arkansas House.
Incoming House Speaker Davy Carter on Monday announced that he had hired Gabe Holmstrom as the chamber's staff chief. Holmstrom replaces current chief Bill Stovall, who will now serve as the chamber's chief operations officer.
Carter is a Republican from Cabot who was elected speaker-designate last month after Republicans won control of the House. Holmstrom previously worked as a public affairs specialist for Cranford Johnson Robinson Woods.
Carter also announced he hired former Rep. Roy Ragland as House Director.
A spokeswoman for the House did not know how much the three would be paid. Stovall's salary as chief was about $133,000. Carter did not immediately return a call late Monday afternoon.Copyright 2012 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed.
