House Speaker considering run for governor

LITTLE ROCK (KATV) - House Speaker Davy Carter told a group of reporters{}Tuesday that he is considering running for governor.

The Republican from Cabot said he's going to take some time to clear his mind before deciding if he'll run.

Carter said he's been approached about throwing his hat into the ring but has been too busy with the legislative session to consider it. The 100-day{}session wrapped up on Tuesday.

"I'm going to go home and catch my breath, get my mind clear, get out of the marble walls and get back to reality for a little time and then just go from there," he said, adding, "I wouldn't tell you{}I hadn't had the thought."

Former Congressman Asa Hutchinson and Little Rock businessman Curtis Coleman are running for the Republican nomination. Former Lieutenant Governor Bill Halter and Former Congressman Mike Ross are seeking the Democratic nomination.
