LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee says he's worried that conservative activists are spending more energy targeting fellow Republicans than focusing on Democrats, a move he says will hurt the party going forward.
Speaking at the Political Animals Club in downtown Little Rock, Huckabee on Friday complained about conservative groups such as the Club for Growth and Heritage Action focusing on incumbent GOP lawmakers in primaries. Huckabee, who hosts a Fox News talk show and a radio show, said that push could cost Republicans in next year's election and the 2016 presidential race.
Huckabee, who now lives in Florida, served 10 1/2 years as Arkansas governor and left office in January 2007 because of term limits. He ran unsuccessfully for the Republican presidential nomination in 2008.Copyright 2013 The Associated Press. All rights reserved.
