IKEA recalls 2.9 million children's lamps
IKEA is recalling 2.9 million children's wall-mounted lamps.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall for eight models including a blue star, a yellow moon, a pink flower, white flower, green bug, blue seashell and a red heart.
One toddler died and another was hurt when they were strangled by the lamp cord when it was pulled into the crib. People who have these lamps are urged to make sure the cord is out of the reach of children.
To find out how to get a free repair kit, call IKEA toll-free at (888) 966-4532 anytime. The repair kit includes safety instructions and self-adhesive fasteners for attaching the cord to the wall.
The lamps were sold at IKEA stores nationwide, in IKEA's catalog and online at ikea-usa.com from July 1999 through May 2013.
