Inmate dies in custody of Union County authorities
EL DORADO, Ark. (AP) - Authorities are investigating after a 43-year-old inmate died in the custody of the Union County jail.
Union County Sheriff Mike McGough says Cynthia Brock was being held in the county jail after pleading guilty to first-degree sexual assault. The sheriff says Brock was booked Thursday in the jail and died Saturday morning after suffering from a respiratory ailment.
McGough tells the El Dorado News-Times (http://bit.ly/LeL0eD ) that a deputy made regular rounds Friday night and Brock had her CPAP breathing machine and reported no problems. But later that night, Brock alerted jail staff that she was having problems breathing, and she was taken to Medical Center of South of Arkansas. The sheriff says Brock died early Saturday at the hospital.
