Ark. man escaped from Okla. jail caught after hunt
STILWELL, Okla. (AP) - Officials in Adair County have captured an Arkansas man who escaped from the county jail after allegedly mixing chemicals and prompting an evacuation.
The Adair County Sheriff's Office says several agencies took part in the capture of 24-year-old Nicholas Ames, who was found Friday afternoon.
Tulsa television station KOTV reports that investigators received a tip that Ames was at an address in Westville.
Ames, of Siloam Springs, Ark., was working as a trusty in the jail kitchen when he escaped. Ames allegedly mixed some chemicals that created fumes, which led to the evacuation of inmates and staff.
Authorities say Ames escaped the jail during the commotion.
He was captured at about 1:30 p.m. Friday after getting loose at about 6 p.m. Thursday.Copyright 2012 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed.
