Jefferson County Justice of the Peace suffers gunshot wound to face
PINE BLUFF (KATV) - A Jefferson County Justice of the Peace suffered a gunshot wound to the face early Sunday morning.
According to a Pine Bluff Police Department report, around 2 a.m., officers were called to a shooting on the 200 block of W. 4th, and witnesses told them 34-year-old Lloyd Franklin, a Jefferson County Justice of the Peace, was shot in the face outside a night club.
Witnesses told police several people who were pushed out of the club for fighting had continued to fight outside. Moments later, they said they heard around 20 to 25 gunshots and saw Franklin running towards them with blood running down his face, according to the report.
Franklin was taken to a Pine Bluff hospital and eventually a Little Rock hospital for treatment.
Pine Bluff police are not currently releasing Franklin's condition.
Detectives are investigating the incident.
