Jefferson County manhunt caught on camera
JEFFERSON COUNTY (KATV) - A dramatic manhunt ended Wednesday morning when an Ashley County manslaughter suspect surrendered before about a dozen armed Jefferson County authorities.
Pine Bluff police and Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies surrounded Edward Morris near 24th Avenue and Indiana Street in Pine Bluff by noon on Wednesday. He had escaped from a pardons and parole office in Pine Bluff on Tuesday afternoon.
Officers acted on a tip Wednesday that a woman from a nearby apartment complex was feeding a suspicious person in the woods. That person turned out to be Morris, who was found with a sealed handgun, medication, and a disturbing homemade drawing.
He was taken into custody after armed officers swarmed the woods.
The drawing appeared to illustrate several violent crimes he has been charged with since the age of seven.
Morris was being transported back to Ashley County on Wednesday evening.
