Jermain Taylor pleads not guilty, given $25K bond
NORTH LITTLE ROCK (KATV) — Professional Boxer Jermain Taylor has pleaded not guilty on charges for first degree battery and aggravated assault.
Wednesday morning, he was given a $25,000 bond by Pulaski County District Court Judge Wayne Gruber. Taylor was arrested Tuesday night after deputies responded to a shooting at his home located at 1 Vintage Drive in North Little Rock.
The cousin of Taylor, Tyrone Hinton, allegedly entered the home uninvited and suffered from two gunshot wounds. According to the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office, after officials arrived on scene Taylor confirmed there had been a shooting and the victim left.
Officers located the victim in the parking lot of a Dollar General store, and he was transported to a hospital for treatment with major injuries. Taylor was taken into custody. During a video arraignment Wednesday morning, Judge Gruber requested the boxer's presence before his fight on October 8 in Mississippi, and Taylor must check in weekly with a bail bondsman.
