On my third day here in Little Rock I was being a typical tourist and headed to see the Clinton Library. While on my way there I saw the man himself. As the 42nd President of the United States passed me, I asked him if he has any advice for someone how just moved to Little Rock. He replies by simply saying, "where did you come from?" Naturally I got flustered. It's not everyday one of the world's most powerful men in the world is asking you a question. But I told him I grew up in Houston and was working for KATV. Mr. Clinton then said, "I think you're going to really like it here." Boy, was he right. After graduating with a journalism degree from Sam Houston State University in May of 2012 I worked in Waco for 2 years at KCEN. Central Texas may not be the biggest market, but they sent me all over the world. I got the chance to cover a contestant on 'The Voice' In Los Angels, a fast-paced offense that made it to the Fiesta Bowl in Arizona, and our Nation's heroes on Fort Hood in Afghanistan. in 2011, I interned in my hometown of Houston for KHOU-TV where I found out that if I can make a living telling stories I might one day be on TV. Thanks to some friends who taught me how to shoot, edit and report at a municipal access TV station in Fort Bend County I was infected by the bug that allows me to get out of bed every morning and do what I love. When I'm not trying to make deadline, I like to pretend to be an athlete by trail running so I can fit into my TV clothes. And when I found out that being the front man in a band wasn't practical, I turned my love for guitar into a hobby. If you know of a story that needs telling or a good pizza place, I'd love to hear from you.
