Judge deciding on change of venue in Despain case
JONESBORO (AP) - A circuit judge is considering a defense request to move the trial of a Jonesboro woman accused of the for-hire murder of her husband.
Prosecutors say the decision could come Wednesday on whether to seek a jury from outside Craighead County.
The Jonesboro Sun reports that Circuit Judge Victor Hill closed a hearing to the public on Monday while the sides discussed sensitive evidence.
Michelle Despain is charged with capital murder for her role in the 2011 shooting death of her husband, Marc Despain.
Three other men, including Michelle Despain's father, were also charged in connection with the death. Two pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and are serving prison sentences. A third man pleaded guilty to hindering apprehension.
The Despains owned BZB Enterprises, which managed rental properties.Copyright 2013 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed.
