Judge denies bond reduction for Fort Smith man
FORT SMITH, Ark. (AP) - A Sebastian County Circuit Court judge has denied a request to lower the bond for a 19-year-old Fort Smith man charged with killing his aunt.
Dustin Trowbridge is charged with first degree murder in the Feb. 13 shooting death of 25-year-old Rita Jackalynne Anderson. The Southwest Times Record reports (http://bit.ly/11WlFc4) that Trowbridge remains jailed on $500,000 bond after Judge Michael Fitzhugh denied the request on Thursday - saying Trowbridge has a history of violence that includes two assault convictions.
Anderson's boyfriend told police Trowbridge was arguing with Anderson and waving a gun in her face when she slapped the gun away before he shot her in the face.
Trowbridge has pleaded not guilty and said the shooting was an accident.
