Judge keeps stay on voter ID ruling
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - An Arkansas judge is - for now - keeping a stay on his ruling against a new state law requiring voters to show photo identification before casting a ballot. Pulaski County Circuit Judge Tim Fox on Friday formally entered his decision that Arkansas' new voter ID law is unconstitutional. The five-page order formalizes a May 2 ruling Fox issued from the bench. Fox then said he wouldn't block the state from enforcing the law during the primary, and Friday's order kept the stay on his decision. Fox had struck down the law in a separate case that had focused on absentee ballots, but the state Supreme Court had tossed out that decision. Justices said Fox didn't have authority to strike down the law in that case.
