Large amounts of weed, guns, money found at Newton Co. home, couple arrested

Two people were arrested in Newton County after deputies found processed marijuana, marijuana plants, guns, and a large sum of cash at a Parthenon home.

Sheriff Keith Slape says that Tom Bonds, 61, and Peggy Bonds, 60, were arrested on September 15 after a search warrant was issued at their home.

Slape stated that 43 pounds of processed marijuana, 21 marijuana plants, 30 guns and $14,912 in cash were confiscated.

The Bonds were charged with possession of controlled substance, manufacture of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia and simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms.

The couple were each released on a $100,000 bond on Monday.
