LIHEAP Utility Assistance Applications Begin January 9th
Central Arkansas Development Council will begin taking applicationsfor the regular Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) on Monday, January9th. LIHEAP helps households with homeenergy and heating bills.
Those wanting assistance must meet income guidelinesand provide proof of all household income for the month prior to applying.Shut-off notices will not be accepted.
Applicants are required to meet specific incomeguidelines. For a household of one, monthly countable income is $1,462.Countable income includes check stubs, child support, unemployment, housingutility assistance, SSI, SSA, TEA, VAS and retirement benefits.
If your household includes more than one, bring proofof income for all household members 18 years or older for the previous month,proof of child support, proof of unemployment for all household members age 18and older, proof of social security, retirement, pensions, workman's comp ordisability, proof of utility allowance and if no income, proof of how bills arebeing paid.
Social security numbers and birth dates for allhousehold members are also required. Anyone who previously received LIHEAP forms inthe mail do not need to attend LIHEAP Day.
