LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - A Little Rock police officer has been placed on administrative leave as the department investigates a shooting incident involving the officer.
The department says in a news release that officers with the department's SWAT Unit were serving a warrant Wednesday morning when an officer observed a suspect running down a hallway toward him.
The police department says the suspect refused several commands by the officer to get to the ground and show his hands before motioning to his waistband with his right hand.
The officer then reportedly fired a single shot at the suspect, who dived to the ground. No injuries were sustained and two suspects were taken into custody.
The officer has been placed on administrative leave as required by department policy while the investigation continues.Copyright 2014 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed.
