Little Rock superintendent, school board ride the bus to school

LITTLE ROCK (KATV) - The Little Rock School District superintendent and board members took the bus to school Thursday.

"I think by actually going out to the sites, you gain a better understanding of what's going on as far as the schools in the day-to-day operations," explained Superintendent Dr. Dexter Suggs.

District leaders will do a series of school visits throughout the year. Thursday, they visited Roberts Elementary and Bale elementary.

Dr. Suggs said on-site visits are key to understanding the district's strengths and weaknesses.

"There are great things going on in the school district and we're only going to get better but it's going to take the entire city of Little Rock to ensure that we're holding each other accountable."

One of the ways they want to be held accountable is through a series of town hall meetings that kicks off next month. Click here for the full schedule.
