Pulaski County Sheriff's deputies and Little Rock police are searching for the driver of a black 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe SUV they say hit and killed a woman in a parking lot Wednesday evening, then sped away.
Witnesses told police Heather Cater, 22, of Traskwood, was leaving her job in the Town and Country Center off South University about 6 p.m. Wednesday, when the speeding vehicle hit her and dragged her approximately 75 feet across the parking lot.
Pulaski County authorities had been in pursuit of the vehicle as it sped from a nearby Walgreens parking lot, then raced through another parking lot, striking Cater.
The driver of the SUV hit two other cars, then abandoned the vehicle and ran away.
Cater was transported to a local hospital where she later died.
