LITTLE ROCK (KATV) — A 20-year-old man accused in the death of a Park Plaza Mall employee has been found guilty of murder. The jury deliberated less than one hour Wednesday and found Deonte Edison guilty of Capital Murder for the February 2013 shooting death of 25-year-old Christian Hayes. Hayes and another employee were closing the Sbarro Pizza restaurant when Edison entered through the back door and robbed and shot them both. The other employee was critically injured but survived. Edison was sentenced to life in prison. He was also convicted of criminal attempt, aggravated robbery, and theft of property. He received 10-year sentences for each count, to be served concurrently. Tristan Bryant is also charged in the case. His jury trial is set to begin in mid-September.
