Man acquitted for bomb threat at Arkansas St

JONESBORO (AP) - A Jonesboro man has been acquitted on charges of making a bomb threat at Arkansas State University.

Prosecutors told our ABC station in Jonesboro, KAIT, Monday that Carlan Walker was acquitted due to a mental defect.

Walker faced felony charges of communicating a false alarm, breaking or entering and theft of property. He also was charged with a misdemeanor count of trespassing.

An ASU dorm, the university's International Student Center and surrounding parking lots were evacuated Sept. 18 after the university was told there were bombs in the dorm and in a nearby vehicle.

No bombs were found and Walker was arrested after being found in a pickup truck in the parking lot.
