Man charged with six counts of rape

BENTON (KATV) - A Benton man is charged with six counts of rape.{}

According to a statement from Benton Police Department spokesman Lt. Kevin Russell, detectives investigated a report of a rape involving a female victim and determined evidence indicated it had taken place.

Lt. Russell said after an extensive investigation, detectives arrested 29-year-old Franklin Lewis and charged him with six counts of rape and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.{}

Lt. Russell said the Lewis and the victim knew each other prior to the incident and additional charges could be possible as the investigation continues.

Lewis is being held on a $10,000 bond at the Saline County Detention Center.{}
