Man cited for trying to run over wildlife officer

MARIANNA, Ark. (AP) - The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission says a man who tried to run over a wildlife officer after he was caught shooting at a decoy deer has been taken into custody.

The agency said Friday that the incident occurred on Nov. 9, when 26-year-old Levi C. Wilson of Marianna allegedly struck the officer with his vehicle while fleeing.

The officer was unhurt and fired shots at Wilson's vehicle, but didn't hit him.

The commission says Wilson abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.

Wilson surrendered Friday to the Lee County Sheriff's Department. He was being held in the Lee County Jail on $120,000 bond.

In addition to hunting-related offenses, Wilson is charged with aggravated assault, being a felon in possession of a firearm and fleeing an enforcement officer.
