Man convicted in UA student's death makes appeal

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - A man sentenced to die for killing a University of Arkansas student is to make oral arguments before the Arkansas Supreme Court as he tries to get his conviction reversed.

Zachariah Scott Marcyniuk was convicted in the 2008 slaying of Katie Wood, who was attacked in her apartment and stabbed to death.

Marcyniuk claimed in an appeal before the trial judge that his lawyer didn't ask prospective jurors whether they would automatically vote to impose the death penalty were he convicted.

In 2010, Marcyniuk lost a separate appeal before the high court, which upheld his conviction and sentence.
