Man dies after early morning fight in Cabot

(KATV) Cabot police were called to a home on Carol Cove, at about 1:45 a.m., Monday, March 17.

Officers on the scene were told that a man knocked on the door, and when the homeowner, Carl Roy Hambrick, 51, opened the door, a fight started.

Sgt. Keith Graham said the homeowner was hit on the head several times with an unknown object.

The suspect, Steven Michael McCraw, 24, stopped because the homeowner used a baseball bat to defend himself. No one else was in the home.

Both men were transported to a local hospital by ambulance. The homeowner is being treated for his injuries. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sgt. Graham says the men are acquaintances.
