Man drowns in northwestern Arkansas lake
DECATUR, Ark. (AP) - Authorities say a Decatur man has drowned at Crystal Lake in western Arkansas.
Decatur Police Sgt. Joe Savage told the Northwest Arkansas Times (http://bit.ly/Merk3g) foul play isn't suspected in the death of 40-year-old Gildardo Velazquez. Savage says investigators don't believe alcohol or drugs were involved in Velazquez's death, but a toxicology report has been requested.
Sheriff's office spokesman Doug Gay says Velazquez was swimming with some people in the water near the boat ramp about 7 p.m. Sunday when he swam between the bluff line and the shore.
Gay says he apparently got tired and went down. A county dive team recovered Velazquez about 11 p.m. Sunday.
Sunday's drowning marks the third in three weeks at lakes in the area. A teen died in May and another teenager drowned Saturday.
