Matt Johnson

Matt Johnson is an award-winning General Assignment Reporter for Channel 7. He comes to Central Arkansas from KXXV, an ABC affiliate in Waco, TX, where he worked as the Killeen Bureau Chief. In his 9 months there, he covered the military hearing for the alleged Fort Hood Shooter, a recall election for a Killeen City Council rocked by scandal, and exposed animal cruelty at a local pet store.

Matt was born and raised in Southern California and is a graduate of California State University Northridge, located just outside Los Angeles.{} While in college, Matt won an Edward R. Murrow Award, an Associated Press Mark Twain Award, and a Golden Mike for a radio piece on statewide education cuts. He's always had a passion for telling stories and getting involved in the community, which is why Matt says he will always be a newsman.

Since his dad is from the Memphis area, Matt has spent some time in Little Rock on his way to summertime family reunions in Tennessee. He's excited to live in the city he has always admired and can't wait to fall in love with the Razorbacks.

In his spare time, you can find Matt exploring hiking trails, gorgeous scenic drives, and the many unique restaurants The Natural State has to offer.
